My lead doesn't work/I have an issue with a product

I can't Open the Grey Socket

The socket is opened by squeezing the two protruding parts of the clip together, as indicated by the arrows.

My New Leads Doesn't Work

Please follow this section for any lead which appears not to work on arrival. As all of our leads are carefully tested on the day of dispatch, a fault is highly unlikely. To date, all apparent faults have been resolved by following the steps below, with 99% down to incorrect operation of the RCD:

  1. If the lead is fitted with a letterbox or ModulEV connector, ensure that it is securely locked together (it should not separate when both ends of the cable are pulled).
  2. Find something with a 13A plug which will clearly show if it is receiving power. As an example, these instructions use a table lamp.
  3. Plug the table lamp into the wall socket which you wish to plug the extension lead into. If the table lamp does not work, there is an issue with the socket; try again with different sockets. Do not proceed to step 3 until the table lamp works.
  4. Plug the table lamp into the extension lead.
  5. Plug the extension lead into the socket which has already been proven to work. If the socket has a switch, turn it on.
  6. If the extension lead has an RCD plug or in-line RCD, press the RESET button firmly once.
  7. RCDs do not have illuminated indicators. The clear indicator window shows the presence of an orange mechanical flag. When pressing the RESET button has successfully reset the RCD, the indicator will change from a hint of orange (left) to brighter orange (right).
  8. Do not press the TEST button
  9. The table lamp should illuminate - the lead is therefore functioning normally.
  10. If the lead still does not work, please contact us.

The RCD also has a TEST button, which simulates a fault. Whilst there is no need to test the unit before each use, regular tests are recommended. To use the test function:

  1. With the extension lead plugged in, press the RESET button so that the indicator turns bright orange.
  2. Press the TEST button. There should be an audible click and the indicator will turn back to pale/dark orange.
  3. Pressing the TEST button cuts the power to the extension lead. Press the RESET button again to restore power.

Not pressing the RESET button after a test is the most common reason for a perfectly functioning lead appearing to have a fault.

My Leads has Stopped Working

If your lead has been working well and then stops working:

  1. With the lead unplugged, carefully check for any signs of damage to the plug, cable, RCD (if fitted) and socket.
  2. Follow steps 1-10 above.
  3. If the lead still doesn't work, try replacing the 13A fuse in the extension lead plug with one that you know works from another appliance and repeat from step 3.
  4. If the lead still does not work, please contact us.

The Indicator on the RCD Does Not Light Up

RCDs do not have illuminated indicators. The clear indicator window shows the presence of an orange mechanical flag. When pressing the RESET button has successfully reset the RCD, the indicator will change from a hint of orange (left) to brighter orange (right).
