Adaptors to use a UK EV granny charger in Europe

This page brings together our adaptors to enable a UK granny charger to be used across most of Europe in one place, to help simplify ordering.

The electricity supply in Europe is 230v 50Hz, which is the same as the UK. The two most common domestic sockets look very similar:

	Schuko Socket (Type F) 2 pin socket, with the earth connected by the side contacts.
	French Socket (Type E) 2 pin socket, with the earth connected by a pin which protrudes from the socket and inserts into the plug.

All of the adaptors on this page use a special plug which is compatible with both Schuko and French sockets.

It can therefore be used in any country coloured light blue or grey below, including Albania, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy (modern installations only), Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Moldova, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey and Ukraine.

Typical Application

The picture below illustrates a typical application; an EV charger with a UK 13A plug is connected to a Schuko socket using the European weatherproof EV adaptor.

 Choosing the Correct Adaptor

There are 4 types of adaptors for using UK EV granny chargers abroad, all manufactured in our UK workshop:

	EV granny charger indoor travel adaptors  Connection must be indoors or undercover. Suitable for all EV granny chargers.
	EV granny charger weatherproof travel adaptors  Connection may be outside.  Suitable for all EV granny chargers.  The socket enclosure houses a high quality single socket.
	ModulEV Modular granny charger extension and travel adaptor system (click the link to visit the dedicated page) If you require adaptors for more than two types socket, the ModulEV range may provide a more cost and space effective flexible solution. Uses a unique modular power connector, to enable UK EV granny chargers to be connected to any socket in Europe and Scandinavia. Suitable for all EV granny chargers.
	Tesla Compatible Travel Adaptors Only buy this adaptor if ALL of the following apply: You have a Tesla. Would like slightly faster charging rates. You already have the Tesla 16A commando plug lead which connects into the Tesla granny charger. This was briefly supplied as standard in 2019, but is now an optional extra from the Tesla Shop for £35. The correct adaptor is pictured below, and has a blue plug which is 42mm in diameter. It must not be mistaken for the larger 57mm diameter plug supplied with very early Teslas.
